Born in Oakland, CA, Xochitl Sosa grew up sandwiched between the bay area's urban culture and the redwoods' fertile soils. Exposure to circus arts at a young age gave Xochitl a purpose. She was hooked after her first flight at age 8. After years of recreational practice she attended NECCA (New England Center for Circus Arts) and completed their pro-track program 2012-2013. She then continued her circus education in Montreal with renowned coaches from Ecole Nacional de Cirque and Cirque du Soleil.
She is the director and founder of Cirque Vida , a contemporary circus company based in Austin, TX. Her work with Cirque Vida as a director, choreographer, and managing a company has rooted her even more in today’s circus community. Cirque Vida merges disciplines in an innovative way to highlight human experiences. Recognizing the need for diverse narratives, Xochitl is committed to collaborating and creating space for BIPOC and LGBTQ artists to bring their stories to the stage.
Xochitl now a mother of two resides outside Austin, TX where she continues to perform, direct and dive deeper into the world of circus.
